AGHDAM, Azerbaijan, November 7. Religious
leaders of different confessions pray for the prosperity of
Karabakh, Chief Rabbi of Ashkenazi Jews of Azerbaijan Shneor Segal
told Trend during his visit to Aghdam as part of a
delegation of participants of the Global Baku Summit of World
Religious Leaders.
“This whole area is thriving; it literally shines. I think this
is one of the most striking examples of the country's climatic
success. It is not just talking about ecology here, but real
ecological projects are being implemented. Areas that 30 years ago
were occupied and destroyed, where there was nothing but death and
destruction, are now thriving and actively developing. Seeing the
vegetation, the trees being planted here, the roads being built -
it really touches the soul,” he said.
According to the rabbi, all religious leaders - Jews, Muslims,
Christians - who are now in Karabakh are praying that this land
will continue to prosper and become a symbol of peace and
prosperity and that peace will spread around the globe.
To note, participants of the Global Baku Summit of World
Religious Leaders under the motto“World Religions for a Green
Planet”, held within the framework of the 29th session of the
Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate
Change, started their visit to Karabakh today.
The agenda of the visit includes familiarization with the
cultural, spiritual, and historical heritage of the cities of
Aghdam and Shusha.
