Absence Of Changes In Armenia's Constitution Indicates Lack Of Interest In Peace - Political Analyst

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. The absence of changes in Armenia's constitution is an indicator that this country is not interested in peace, the Political analyst Azer Garayev told Trend.

“Armenia's constitution preamble contains a reference to the declaration of independence of this country, the text of which, in turn, contains territorial claims to the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this context, official Baku demands amendments to the Armenian constitution to move forward on the peace treaty. Changes in the Armenian constitution could give a strong impetus to the peace process, which could be an important step to ensure long-term peace in the South Caucasus. However, Armenia is avoiding constitutional change in every possible way.

The Armenian government, deceived by false promises from the West, claims that there is no need for it. This, in turn, is a clear indicator that Armenia is not interested in peace. Armenia's refusal to change the constitution creates obstacles to peace and cooperation efforts in the region. Nevertheless, Armenia should realize that amending the constitution is a necessary step for the normalization of relations between the two countries,” Garayev said.

According to the political analyst, the biggest supporter of Armenia in this issue is France.

“France's support for Armenia is conditioned by various geopolitical factors. One of them, of course, is Paris' interest in the region. France has not accepted the emergence of new realities in the South Caucasus. The recent visit of the French Ambassador to the territory bordering Azerbaijan and the observation of our territories is a continuation of the provocative“binocular diplomacy”. Such steps of the French Ambassador in Armenia further complicate Azerbaijani-French relations. This step, on the one hand, proves the French government's intention to openly support Armenia, and on the other hand, once again raises questions about the neutrality of the EU mission,” the political analyst noted.
