Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan's Parliaments Ink Act On Co-Op Via Inter-Parliamentary Council

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 1. A regulation
has been signed to form the Inter-Parliamentary Council for
Cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and
the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
This became known during the visit of the Chairman of the
Mazhilis of Kazakhstan, Erlan Koshanov, to Kyrgyzstan, where he met
with the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh (Head of the Supreme
Council of Kyrgyzstan) Nurlanbek Shakiyev. Koshanov arrived to
participate in the Second Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary
Council for Cooperation between the parliaments of Kazakhstan and
Kyrgyzstan.
The main topic of the meetings was the strengthening of
inter-parliamentary ties, which will allow for more effective
implementation of agreements reached by the leaders of the two
countries.
Erlan Koshanov emphasized the significance of President Sadyr
Japarov's visit to Kazakhstan, during which he signed an
intergovernmental agreement on deepening allied relations, and
noted that fraternal Kyrgyzstan remains a reliable partner for
Kazakhstan. The Speaker also informed his Kyrgyz colleagues about
the current political reforms in Kazakhstan initiated by President
Tokayev and discussed new laws aimed at protecting the rights of
women and children, as well as measures against gambling and
drugs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Erlan Koshanov awarded
Nurlanbek Shakiyev the "Dostyk" Order for his contribution to
strengthening bilateral relations. The Deputy Chairman, Nurbek
Sydygaliev, was awarded a Certificate of Honor.
The Second Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Council concluded
with the signing of the Regulation on the Inter-Parliamentary
Council for Cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz
Republic and the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Additionally, during the visit, the Kazakh delegation visited
the Memorial to the Victims of the Tragic Events of 1916 and the
House-Museum of the writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
On the second day of the official visit, a meeting between Erlan
Koshanov and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov,
is scheduled.
