BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The Forum of
Azerbaijani Scientists Living Abroad has been concluded with a
cultural event organized at the Gulistan Palace in Baku, the
Association of Azerbaijani Scientists Worldwide told Trend .
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Work with the
Diaspora of Azerbaijan Valeh Hajiyev welcomed the cultural event
participants, emphasizing that the forum was a real feather in
their cap.
He pointed out that such events have been the bread and butter
in weaving a global tapestry of Azerbaijani scientists.
Chairman of the World Union of Azerbaijani Scientists, Honored
Scientist Masud Afandiyev tipped his hat to the Azerbaijani state
for pulling off this grand event and expressed hope that such
forums would be par for the course in the future.
Deputy Director of the Azerbaijani State Agency for Science and
Higher Education under the Ministry of Science and Education
Aminagha Sadigov shone a light on the pivotal role of scientists in
weaving a global academic tapestry and underscored the significance
of fostering strong ties with scholars residing overseas.
Professor Khagani Gayibli from the University of Tartu thanked
the forum's organizers for facilitating the exchange of knowledge
and experience between local scientists and Azerbaijani scientists
residing in various countries.
Chair of the Gobustan Azerbaijani Intellectual Society,
Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg, Board Member
of the World Union of Azerbaijani Scientists Saadat Karimi spoke
about the importance of organizing scientists and noted that the
forum is the best platform for this purpose.
The event continued with a performance by a musical ensemble
under the artistic direction of tar player Rovshan Gurbanov. The
performances by Ravana Gurbanova, soloist of the Muslim Magomayev
Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic, the Rhythm dance group,
Jeyhun Muradov on the kamancha, Soltan Aliyev on the drum, Vasif
Yusifli on the oud, and Kanan Khalilov on the piano were met with
enthusiastic applause.
After the cultural event, the participants hit the road to
Karabakh.
Organized by the Association of Azerbaijani Scientists Worldwide
with support from the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the
Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, the forum was held
on September 9-11.
The forum has brought together more than 80 Azerbaijani
scientists from 23 countries, as well as scientists and professors
working in various scientific institutions of Azerbaijan, rectors
of prestigious universities.
