No Outside Influence May Affect Azerbaijan's Parliamentary Election - CEC Chairman

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Any external
interference in the country's parliamentary election is impossible,
Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Mazahir
Panahov stated, a source in the CEC told Trend .
Panahov stressed at Tuesday's CEC meeting that the recent
parliamentary election followed all legal requirements.
His remarks came following a debriefing with observers from the
Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Office for
Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), who recently
concluded their mission in Azerbaijan.
Panahov assured the OSCE/ODIHR observers that the election
process adhered to legal standards and that external interference
or coercion was unacceptable.
"I conveyed to the OSCE mission that the election were conducted
according to the law. Any form of external interference or forced
opinions is unacceptable. We assured them that we would carefully
consider their constructive feedback regarding the election," the
chairman added.
To recall, the snap parliamentary election was held in
Azerbaijan on September 1.
A total of 112,749 local observers were registered, including
over 65,000 representatives of political parties. There were 598
international observers from 51 organizations and 69 countries.
Among the 990 registered candidates, 305 represented 25
political parties, while 371 were party members but were not
nominated by their parties. In total, 676 candidates were
affiliated with political parties.
