Azerbaijan Resumes Production Of“Istisu” Mineral Water After Decades-Long Halt (PHOTO)
This mineral-rich water comes from hot springs in the picturesque Kalbajar region, more than 1,600 meters above sea level and spontaneously emerging at temperatures above 60 °C.
To note, the ball started rolling on the production of "Istisu" in Kalbajar back in 1976, and it quickly made a name for itself thanks to its remarkable health benefits. But manufacturing came to a standstill for 30 years because of the Armenian takeover of Azerbaijani territory.
The factory currently has cutting-edge automated bottling lines and robotic reservoir management technologies supplied and installed by the German company Krones. These developments allow for the manufacture of high-quality mineral water while retaining its natural qualities. Annual production capacity surpasses 100 million glass bottles.
The water meets both local and international quality standards and is categorized as thermal mineral water with high bicarbonate and sodium sulfate content. It contains healthy components such as calcium, magnesium, and sulfates, which improve health.
"Istisu" mineral water is certified to AZS 216-2006, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 22000:2018 standards, ensuring strict quality and safety norms.
About 100 individuals, primarily from the Kalbajar and Lachin areas, will work the two shifts at the factory. By reducing waste and making better use of energy resources, it will also help safeguard the environment. Producing safe, high-quality water while minimizing environmental impact is the facility's top priority.
