Uzbekistan Reveals Transit Cargo Transportation Volume In 1H2024


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 31. Uzbekistan transported 5.3 million tons of transit cargo (by road and rail) from January through June 2024, Trend reports.

The data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency shows that the volume of transit cargo transported by railways reached 4.1 million tons during this period, which amounts to 77.9 percent of the total volume of cargo transportation.

Furthermore, a total of 1.2 million tons of transit cargo were transported by road (22.1 percent of the total volume of cargo transportation).

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan has launched container transportation on a new multimodal route with India.

Uztemiryulcontainer JSC has organized a new multimodal route for container transportation from Indian Mundra, Nhava Sheva, and Chennai ports to Uzbekistan. The cargo was delivered by sea from India to the Iranian Bandar Abbas port and then by rail to Uzbekistan's Sergeli station.

The first freight train, consisting of 20 containers, passed 2,673 kilometers in 20 days. In the future, it is planned to reduce the delivery time to 15 days.
