TAP Outlines Southern Gas Corridor Maintenance Impact (Exclusive)

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. The planned maintenance activities on the natural gas transmission system along the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), scheduled for August 5-9, 2024, will occur on a section upstream of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and not on the TAP pipeline itself, TAP AG consortium told Trend .

"As a result of the above planned maintenance activities, although both TAP's transportation System and its capacity will remain fully available, gas flows entering TAP at Interconnection Point (IP) Kipoi are likely to be reduced and therefore the utilisation of TAP's products at all IPs (Komotini, Nea Mesimvria and Melendugno) may be affected," said the consortium.

TAP AG noted that the adjacent Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of TAP have been informed and TAP has published an Urgent Market Message to inform the market, according to the relevant European framework.

"We expect normal services to resume once these planned maintenance activities are completed," said the consortium.

Earlier, Türkiye's BOTAS announced that Azerbaijani gas supplies to Türkiye will be suspended for several days due to maintenance work on the export gas pipeline.

"Due to planned maintenance and repair work on the export gas pipeline transporting gas from Shah Deniz, gas supply to Türkiye's national gas distribution network will be interrupted at the Turkgozu entry point from July 31 to August 5, and at the TANAP Seitgazi entry point from August 5 to August 9," the statement reads.

BOTAS assured that measures will be taken during this period to ensure the balance of supply and demand in Türkiye's national gas distribution network.

TAP is the European leg of the Southern Gas Corridor, supplying 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, with possibility of expanding to 20 billion cubic meters.
