Azerbaijani FM Exchanges Views With Representative Of UN High Commissioner For Refugees

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. Azerbaijani Foreign
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received and exchanged views on
cooperation and the current situation in the region with Bik Lum,
representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in
Azerbaijan, a source in the country's Foreign Ministry told
Trend .
According to the source, Bayramov noted the importance of joint
projects with the UN aimed at addressing the humanitarian
consequences of the former Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and
improving the living conditions of Azerbaijani citizens who were
refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) as a result of
Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan.
He emphasized that the 'Great Return' program, aimed at ensuring
the dignified return of Azerbaijan's citizens to the territories
liberated from Armenian occupation, is one of the main priorities
for the country, and informed about the relevant progress.
The minister also briefed on the preparations for the 29th
session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework
Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and discussed the
possibilities for cooperation within its framework.
Lum noted that numerous projects for Azerbaijani IDPs have been
implemented over the past 30 years, and that the structure he
represents is ready to provide support for their return to native
lands and to conduct joint educational work in the field of
humanitarian demining with the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine
Action.
Additionally, the parties discussed other issues of mutual
interest.
