The Indian government is set to establish 12 new industrial cities across various states, aiming to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, according to a senior official.

These developments will follow models similar to those implemented in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Dholera, Gujarat, reported PTI.

Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department for Promotion of industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), revealed that eight of these projects are already at different stages of implementation.

The initiative will see two new industrial cities in Andhra Pradesh and one in Bihar, among others.

This strategic move is part of the government's broader efforts to strengthen India's manufacturing sector and create industrial hubs in diverse regions.

The new cities are expected to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to attract both domestic and foreign investments.

While specifics about the locations and timelines for the remaining industrial cities were not disclosed, the initiative represents a significant step towards decentralising industrial development and promoting balanced regional growth.

As these projects progress, they are likely to generate substantial employment opportunities and contribute to the local economies of their respective regions.
