UK Defense Secretary declares new military aid package for Ukraine
(MENAFN) UK Defense Secretary John Healey announced a substantial new military aid package for Ukraine following discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov in Odesa. The aid package includes an array of critical resources: additional artillery guns, a quarter-million rounds of ammunition, and nearly 100 precision Brimstone missiles, as outlined in a government statement.
Healey also committed to expedite military support pledged in April, ensuring it arrives within the next 100 days. His visit coincided with Ukraine's Navy Day celebrations, during which he reaffirmed the UK's unwavering support for Ukraine, highlighting the renewed commitment under the new government in Westminster.
"Despite changes in leadership, the UK stands united in support of Ukraine," Healey emphasized. "As the new defense secretary, I am committed to intensifying Britain’s assistance by bolstering the supply of essential military aid."
He underscored the UK's steadfast dedication to Ukraine's defense, condemning Russian aggression and advocating for accountability for President Vladimir Putin's actions. The new aid package encompasses a diverse range of equipment, including ammunition, anti-tank missiles, military boats for river and coastal operations, de-mining vehicles, artillery guns, and crucial spare parts to enhance operational capabilities.
"This government remains resolute in its commitment to provide ongoing military assistance, standing shoulder to shoulder with our Ukrainian allies for as long as necessary," Healey concluded, emphasizing the UK's enduring solidarity with Ukraine in the face of regional challenges.
