Explosion In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, Kills Three And Injures Eight

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Local Police officials in Pakistan have reported that at least three individuals were killed and eight others injured in a bomb blast in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan.

According to local police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the target of the bombing was a vehicle carrying police personnel.

Babar Afridi, the local police officer, reiterated that the explosion occurred due to a planted bomb on a bridge in the Takhbai area of Mardan district. He mentioned that among the casualties were police officers.

Mr. Afridi further stated that initial investigations revealed the presence of a handmade bomb placed on the bridge.

So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Local authorities have reported that the injured have been admitted to local hospitals for treatment, and search operations continue to apprehend those responsible for the incident.

Amidst these incidents, there has been an increase in attacks by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Pakistani officials and foreign citizens, which Pakistani officials allege are supported and sheltered by the Taliban.

The Taliban, however, deny these allegations, stating they are committed to peace. This situation unfolds against the backdrop of forced deportations of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries, exacerbating the dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, where insecurity and violence persist.
