Kanye West gets to Moscow

(MENAFN) American rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, has made headlines with his recent visit to Moscow, as reported by local media outlets. Eyewitness videos surfaced on social media showing a man in a white jumpsuit resembling the Grammy Award-winning artist arriving at a central hotel in the Russian capital. Another clip depicted him and his entourage navigating a pedestrian underpass close to Red Square. Shortly after these sightings, West confirmed his presence in Russia with a brief greeting posted on the Russian social network VK, stating, “Hello, Moscow.”

Initial reports suggested that Kanye's visit was primarily for a concert at the Luzhniki Stadium, the largest venue in Moscow, renowned for hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup final and numerous concerts by international stars. However, the Luzhniki administration quickly refuted these claims, labeling them as "fake news."

According to a representative of Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy, Kanye's trip was actually to attend Rubchinskiy’s birthday party. Rubchinskiy, who was appointed as the Head of Design for Kanye’s Yeezy brand in December 2023, celebrated his 40th birthday on Saturday.

Reports from the Telegram channel SHOT indicated that West and Rubchinskiy planned to stroll through central Moscow before heading to a private venue, restricting access to unauthorized individuals. Rubchinskiy was also identified as one of the companions accompanying Kanye in the circulating videos.

This unexpected visit highlights Kanye West's ongoing influence and connections within the fashion and entertainment industries, despite the surrounding controversy regarding his presence in Russia.
