(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Azerbaijani ForeignMinister Jeyhun Bayramov has received Ambassador Extraordinary andPlenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy Claudio Taffuri on theoccasion of the completion of his diplomatic activity in thecountry, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The meeting discussed issues arising from the existingmultidimensional relations of strategic partnership betweenAzerbaijan and Italy, as well as the current regionalsituation,
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to ambassadorClaudio Taffuri for his efforts in enhancing Azerbaijan-Italyrelations during his tenure and wished him success in his futureendeavors. It was acknowledged that the multi-dimensional strategicpartnership between the two countries across various sectors,including politics, economics, trade, energy, transportation,culture, and humanitarian affairs, is a source of satisfaction. Theexisting mechanism of strategic dialogue was recognized for itssignificant contribution to these relations. Furthermore, theimportance of ongoing mutual visits, contacts, and the continuationof political consultations was underscored.
The minister informed about the preparations for the 29thsession of the Conference of the Parties to the UN FrameworkConvention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in thecountry this year. It was noted that COP29 will further contributeto cooperation with a number of partners in the field of climatechange, including Italy.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Italy for its fair attitude onthe current situation and reality in the region following thefighting, including reconstruction and construction work inliberated lands and the Azerbaijani-Armenian normalization process underscored the significance of Italy's position, urging otheractors to follow suit and avoid unilateral and discriminatorypolicies that threaten regional peace and security.
Ambassador Claudio Taffuri expressed appreciation for thecooperation and support received during his diplomatic tenure inAzerbaijan. He conveyed confidence in further strengthening thepartnership between Azerbaijan and Italy.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed other issues ofmutual interest.
