Chinese Hubei To Run Shipments Via Middle Corridor


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 28. The businesscommunity of the Chinese Hubei province is interested in organizingtransportation along the Trans-Caspian International TransportRoute (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Trend reports.

This was stated at a meeting of KTZ Express JSC (a subsidiary ofthe national corporation Kazakhstan Railways that specializes incontainer shipping) with Hubei provincial administration andbusiness leaders.

Subsequently, Chinese delegates showed an interest in organizingtransportation to Kazakhstan as well as transit to Central Asianand European countries, as well as the Moscow hub and the TITRroute.

In turn, KTZ Express demonstrated the company's capabilities in thefield of transportation organization, including rail and othermodes.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their desire tocreate and strengthen collaboration.

Notably, Hubei is a major economic center in China. Many majorChinese corporations are headquartered here, including DongfengMotor Corporation and Wuhan Iron & Steel Group. The province isalso a significant manufacturing hub for electronics, food, andtextiles.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and commerce route thatconnects Asia and Europe via various nations in the region. It isan alternate route to the traditional Northern and SouthernCorridors.

The route begins in China and passes via Central Asian countriessuch as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then travelsvia the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey beforereaching Europe.

On November 7, 2013, at the II International Transport andLogistics Business Forum "New Silk Road" in Astana, the leaders ofJSC "National Company" Kazakhstan Temir Zholy", CJSC" AzerbaijanRailways ", and JSC" Georgian Railway "signed an agreement toestablish a Coordination Committee for the development of theTrans-Caspian International Transport Route."
