Indonesia manager Tae-Yong Shin said Sunday his side would strive to advance to the last-16 in the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.

Speaking to the media immediately after the Indonesian team touched down in Doha, the South Korean stressed his men would exert efforts amid expectedly tough encounters against experienced teams.

The tournament will run from Jan. 12 to Feb. 10, 2024 with 24 teams in action.

Ranked 146 in latest FIFA rankings, the Indonesians will not be among the favorites to appear in the knock-out stage, yet the 53-year-old coach promised his team would strive to show the recent development in Indonesian football.

Featuring in Asia's most prestigious men's football event for the fifth time, Indonesia were drawn in group D along with Iraq, Vietnam and Japan.
