Los Angeles Police arrests man in connection with dismembered body, family’s disappearance

(MENAFN) The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested 35-year-old Samuel Haskell in connection with a gruesome discovery—the torso of a dismembered female body—and the mysterious disappearance of his wife and her live-in parents. Haskell, who has been jailed on suspicion of murder, was apprehended following a search of his home in the Tarzana area, where he resided with his wife, in-laws, and three children. While the torso was found within a bag in a dumpster on Wednesday, efforts are underway to identify the victim.

The missing individuals include Haskell's 37-year-old wife, Mei Li Haskell, and her parents, Gaoshan Li (71) and Yanxiang Wang (64). The arrest was supported by evidence gathered during the search of Haskell's residence, and police are actively working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the dismembered body and the family's disappearance.

As of now, it is unclear whether Haskell has retained legal representation, and there are no available court files online indicating whether he has hired an attorney or been assigned a public defender. With Haskell held on a $2 million bail, a court appearance is scheduled for Monday. The children, in the midst of this unsettling situation, have been located and are currently under the care of relatives. Family members could not be immediately reached for comment. Multiple media outlets have identified Haskell as the son and namesake of a former executive at a prominent Hollywood talent agency.
