Wagh Bakri Scion Parag Desai Death: 'Need National Task Force', Karti Chidambaram Calls For Action On Stray Dog Issue


(MENAFN- Live Mint) "Congress leader Karti P Chidambaram on Tuesday called for the need for a national task force to deal with the stray dogs issues at the earliest. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Karti said that an ethical and scientific approach is needed.
“We need a national task force to deal with the #StrayDogs issue immediately. An ethical & scientific approach is needed. Expecting inadequately equipped local administration authorities to deal with this is pointless. I have highlighted the seriousness & urgency to the @PMOIndia,\" he said.
This came after Wagh Bakri Tea Group executive director Parag Desai died at a hospital here in Gujarat of severe brain injuries days as he fell on a hard surface while being chased by stray dogs during an evening walk, a company official said on Monday per PTI reports, the private hospital where Desai was admitted immediately after the fall on October 15 evening, however, said no marks of dog bite were found on his body.
The company official said Desai suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after falling on a hard surface while going for a walk outside his residence.
Shalby Hospital in Ahmedabad, where Desai was shifted after the fall, issued a statement saying \"When the patient was brought to the facility in an unconscious state, it was stated that he fell after being chased by dogs, but apparently there were no dog bite marks on his body\".\"When the patient was brought to the hospital at around 6 pm (on October 15), he was unconscious and not responding. A CT scan revealed acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion. Desai was admitted to the ICU and advised to be kept under observation and treatment for 72 hours,\" it said as quoted by PTI.
Police informed that Sarkhej police in the city have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway.
Parag Desai was the son of Rasesh Desai, Managing Director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group. With more than 30 years of entrepreneurship, Desai led the company's sales, marketing and export departments. The company has a turnover in excess of ₹1,500 crore.
