Narcotics Peddler From Manipur Nabbed In Bengal's Cooch Behar


(MENAFN- IANS) Kolkata, Sep 16 (IANS) The special task force (STF) of the West Bengal Police has arrested a wanted narcotics peddler from Manipur and his close associate in the state's Cooch Behar district.

Narcotics consignments valued at over Rs 1.5 crore, including four kilograms of YaBa tablets and one kg brown sugar were seized by the STF sleuths from their possessions.

The arrested drug peddler from Manipur has been identified as Abdul Matlib. The other arrested person and Matlib's associate has been identified as Yanur Rahman, who also hails from Cooch Behar district.

State police sources said that the arrested duo was carrying the narcotics consignment by a truck.

"While the YaBa tablets were hidden within the stepney or spare tyre of the truck, Matlib was himself carrying the brown sugar in a bag," a police officer said.

Both have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In a separate incident, the cops of West Burdwan district police, on late Friday night, have arrested two persons from Durgapur stand in district with 500 gram heroin, whose estimated price in the grey market is expected to be around Rs 15 lakh.

The two persons have been identified as Hasibul Sheikh and Badruddin Sheikh.

They were carrying the consignment from Bihar and their destination was Nadia district.
