(MENAFN) According to the deputy chairman of Iran's Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), 98 percent of the nation's power plants are prepared for a consistent supply of electricity throughout the remainder of the summer.
Hamid Baderestani claims that the TPPH anticipates no significant concerns with the supply of energy for the remainder of the summer given that two-thirds of the summer peak usage time has passed.
“This year, 670 repair operations were carried out in large power plants, and by increasing the capacity of power plants, we were able to increase the capacity of our power plants by more than 700 megawatts,” he stated.
As the nation's temperatures this summer broke new records, consumption of electricity has been rising in Iran.
Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the electrical industry spokesman for the Iranian Energy Ministry, stated earlier this month that since the start of the ongoing summer months on June 22, electricity usage has grown by 6.5 percent when compared to the same time last year.
