Trial Date Set For Food Bags Scam


(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) The oral trial for alleged mishandling of food bags from the
Panama Solidarity Program
that were distributed during the COVID-19 pandemic, was set for
February 5, 2024 at 9:00 am
.

The case has to do with the discovery of more than
509 bags of food from the Panama Solidario program , which were kept in a residence in San Francisco, an event that occurred on June 12, 2021.

The decision was issued by the guarantee judge, Irene Cedeño, after the intermediate hearing ended, she issued an order to open oral trial No. 411 against
Julio Caballero, Julio Palacio and Rodolfo Chamorro
for the alleged commission of crimes against the administration public in the form of embezzlement.


Prior to issuing the order to open the trial, the judge admitted to the private defenders Nadia Castillo, Ángel Álvarez, and Alexis Sánchez a total of 38 documentary evidence and 19 testimonials.

The
Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office , represented by the prosecutor Marina García Collado, was admitted with 26 documentary evidence, 14 testimonials, and one expert evidence.
