Brussels Meeting: Why Russia Is More Interested In Results? Experts' Views

"A spoken word is not a sparrow. Once it flies out, you can't catch it" means that words are very important and it is necessary to realize what you say.

In Armenia they deny in every possible way the obvious - the inevitability of full restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. It is terrible for the Armenian side to admit to itself that the myth that they have lived for decades may finally and irrevocably burst.

So far for Armenia it is sixth time to sit at the negotiation table to discuss the same issues with Azerbaijan with the participation of Charles Michel, the President of the EU Council.

It is another fresh meeting taking place in Brussels to achieve results on the five main principles put forward by Azerbaijani side that is powerful and perseverant.

In the last meeting, Armenian authority demonstratively expressed its position towards recognizing Azerbaijan's territory despite some of his entourages later tried to distort Pashinyan's acknowledgment by bringing illogical arguments in the Armenian parliament.

"Despite the fact that they constantly make some contradictory statements, and Pashinyan assents to some nationalists and public opinion, he really wants to stall at somewhere," Russian financial analyst Alexander Razuvaev said in his comments on Azerbaijan-Armenia peace negotiations for Azernews .

"I think that with a high probability, Armenia will officially recognize Karabakh, as a single entity and as part of Azerbaijan without any pretension by the end of the year, because it is impossible to oppose anything, the war was lost by Armenia three years ago, and accordingly it is better to recognize the reality," the expert added.

Having discussed the current economic situation in Armenia, Russian analyst said that Yerevan is better to normalize relations with its neighbors, which will give impetus and growth to the economy. "First of all, I must say that Armenia was more hopeful of support from France, the diaspora, and some forces in the West such as US Congress and elsewhere, but how to say, it did not go further than verbal statements, no one fought and will fight for them. Therefore, I think willy-nilly Armenia will come to peace agreement with Azerbaijan as it did in November 2020. The only thing is the time which is unpredictable whether now or by the end of this year," Razuvayev emphasised.

Azerbaijani expert Anar Hasanov's comments on the issues also concurred the views expressed by Alexander Razuvayev, saying that Armenia had been doing everything to freeze the conflict for many years. Even some forces have been eager to prolong this in the South Caucasus for some dirty purposes.

"The thing is that some forces in the world are also interested in this, taking advantage of the Armenian factor to influence Azerbaijan. So, in this sense, the general policy of the forces that are interested in the region, coincide with the interests of the Armenian government as well. And all of Pashinyan's actions are aimed at freezing this conflict, and in parallel that this conflict would have international resonance. All events and agendas related to the region, had international resonance. Based on these two goals, the Armenian Minister makes statements. Of course, we should not exclude the internal audience," the political analyst said.

According to the Russian expert, Russia's position in regard to peace negotiation and in terms of economy is clear. Razuvayev said that opening all the transport routes and communications is vitally important for his country.
"Developing economy is important for Russia now. Besides, for Russia the North-South corridor through Azerbaijan, trade with Iran is a priority, and I would say even talks on the North-South corridor is much more important than elements on the agenda of negotiations, so naturally Russia will go for any talks on this," A.Razuvayev underlined.
