(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the past 24 hours, Ukraine's missile and artillery units have struck 16 Russian artillery systems in firing position, four surface-to-air missile systems, and two electronic warfare systems. The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine on facebook , an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Last night Russia launched another attack on Ukraine's territory with the Iranian-made Shahed loitering munitions. The effects of that terrorist attack are being checked, according to the General Staff.
Over the past day, Russian occupiers have fired 15 Shahed drones at Ukraine's territory, and Ukraine's air defense units destroyed 11 of them.
The enemy also launched over 60 air strikes and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) 64 times. Unfortunately, casualties among civilians, including children, were reported. Residential houses and other civil infrastructure were damaged.
The threat of Russian missile and air strikes is persisting all over Ukraine.
Russian troops continue focusing efforts on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions. Fierce battles are raging there. Thirty-five combat engagements have occurred over the past day.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remained rather unchanged. No enemy offensive groupings were detected. Certain Belarusian units are completing tasks within the areas bordering with Ukraine.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russians are maintaining military presence. The enemy attacked over 10 settlements with artillery and mortars.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian warriors are firmly holding defense. Russian occupiers launched an air strike near the Kharkiv region's Kyslivka. The enemy opened fire with artillery and mortars on the Kharkiv region's Fyholivka, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kupiansk and Kyslivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Luhansk region's Novoselivske. The enemy launched air strikes near the Luhansk region's Bilohorivka, and the Donetsk region's Spirne, Vesele and Rozdolivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
In the Bakhmut direction, Russian troops launched air strikes near Stupochky, Oleksandro-Shultyne and Dyliivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
In the Avdiivka direction, under extensive air and artillery strikes, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks near the Donetsk region's Avdiivka and Keramik. Russians launched an air strike near Panteleimonivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian forces continue holding back Russia's onslaught near Marinka. The enemy launched an air strike near the Donetsk region's Krasnohorivka. Over 15 settlements were affected by Russian shelling.
In the Shakhtarske direction, Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the Donetsk region's Novomykhailivka, and launched air strikes near the Donetsk region's Zolota Nyva, Makarivka and Rivnopil. The enemy shelling affected the Donetsk region's Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian troops are focusing efforts to prevent Ukrainian forces from advancing. Over 20 settlements were affected by Russian artillery strikes.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defense Forces continue conducting the offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, gaining foothold within the re-captured frontiers, attacking the detected enemy targets with artillery, and carrying out counterbattery measures.
Over the past day, Ukraine's Air Force has launched six strikes on enemy personnel, ammunition and military equipment clusters, and four strikes on Russian surface-to-air missile systems.
