Trump To Transfer Undocumented Immigrants To Guantanamo

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has issued another executive order targeting illegal immigrants, directing their transfer to Guantanamo Bay.

On Wednesday, January 29, Trump officially ordered the preparation of the Guantanamo prison to hold illegal immigrants whom his administration refers to as“foreign criminals.”

Before signing this order, he stated,“Today, I am also signing an executive order directing the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to begin the process of preparing the immigration detention center at Guantanamo Bay, which has a capacity for 30,000 people.”

After signing the order at the White House, the President stated,“We will send them (foreign criminals) to Guantanamo.”

Trump's actions against illegal immigrants have sparked widespread reactions. Thousands of illegal immigrants, whom the Trump administration has labeled as“foreign criminals,” have been arrested.

Trump also stated that the plan to transfer immigrants to Guantanamo Bay aims to use the prison for holding“the most dangerous foreign criminals who pose a threat to the people of the United States.”

According to him,“Some of them are so dangerous that we don't even trust the countries they came from to hold them, because we don't want them to come back. Therefore, we are sending them to Guantanamo.”

Guantanamo, located at the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay in southeastern Cuba, is one of the most notorious prisons in the U.S. and is internationally known for holding international terrorists.

This prison was established in 2002 by former President George W. Bush following the September 11 terrorist attacks and was used for many years to detain thousands of prisoners whom the U.S. labeled as the most dangerous international terrorists.

Trump's controversial plan to use Guantanamo Bay for illegal immigrants reflects the continued tension around immigration policies in the U.S. It highlights the deep divides in public opinion, with strong support from his base and fierce criticism from opponents, while raising significant questions about human rights and the future of U.S. immigration strategy.
