(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Due to Russia's violation of the right to life and medical care, Crimean political prisoner Bohdan Ziza's health condition has deteriorated. Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said this on telegram , Ukrinform reports.
According to the Ombudsman, after a 17-day hunger strike, Ziza began to have stomach problems - his body does not accept food after a long break.
"The man has lost 10 kilograms. Any other details about his health are currently unknown. According to his relatives, Bohdan Ziza remains in an isolated cell," Lubinets said.
Read also: mfa condemns "sentence" of ukrainian artist bohdan ziza by russian invaders The Ombudsman emphasized that the failure to provide adequate medical care to Ukrainian citizens deprived of their liberty by Russia for political reasons is systemic. This is harmful to health, life-threatening and can lead to fatalities.
Lubinets calls on the international community to pay attention to Russia's gross violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Convention, according to which the failure to provide medical care is equivalent to torture and contradicts the guaranteed norms of Article 3 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
The Ombudsman emphasized that Russia should release Ziza and other illegally detained Ukrainian citizens.
As reported, Crimean artist and activist Bohdan Ziza went on a hunger strike on June 10. He demanded to be deprived of his imposed Russian citizenship and to release all political prisoners from Russian prisons.

On June 9, the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced him to 15 years in prison. The verdict was handed down under four articles of the Russian Criminal Code: a terrorist attack; a threat of a terrorist attack; a call to terrorism; and vandalism for political reasons. An appeal was filed against the court's decision.
Ziza ended his hunger strike on June 27.
