Qatar Chairs Coordination Meeting Of Arab Ministers Of Social Affairs

New York: The State of Qatar chaired the coordination meeting of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held at the UN headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

Chaired by Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, the meeting aimed to review the topics and issues on this session's agenda, and strengthen coordination between Arab countries in this regard.

The Minister affirmed that the State of Qatar will spare not effort to support and integrate persons with disabilities into Arab societies, whether in Qatar or in the Arab world.

She stressed the importance of implementing the Arab convention for persons with disabilities during the years 2023-2032, as it is an essential pillar of support for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), by striving to implement the classification of disability in Raba countries, as well as promote it in various regional and international ways. She highlighted the planned hosting of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Qatar, respectively, for 3rd and 4th Global Disability Summit (GDS) in 2025 and 2028, and the embodiment of the importance of joint Arab solidarity, in an effort to empower persons with disabilities in the Arab world.
