(MENAFN) Yvonne Manzi Makolo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rwanda's national flag carrier, RwandAir, has made history by becoming the first woman to hold the position of Chairperson of the Board of Governors at the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
During the annual general meeting of the IATA held in Istanbul, Mehmet Tevfik Nane, CEO of Turkish air carrier Pegasus and the former chairman of the board, handed over his responsibilities to Yvonne Manzi Makolo on Monday. This appointment signifies a significant milestone for gender diversity and inclusivity within the aviation industry.
Makolo, who has been serving as a member of the IATA board since November 2020, now assumes the esteemed role of the 81st chairperson of the association.
