Spain’s premier declares he will dissemble current Spanish government

(MENAFN) Spanish Premier Pedro Sanchez declared on Monday that he is going to dissolve the Spanish administration and provoke voting for July 23.

The declaration came the day after domestic elections, which witnessed Sanchez’s Socialist Party relinquish the leadership of many domestic administrations, including Valencia, Aragon as well as Extremadura. On the municipal level, it also lost to the Popular Party.

“As prime Minister and head of the Socialist Party, I assume my responsibility, and I think it’s necessary to respond to these results and submit our Democratic mandate to the popular will,” Sanchez stated in a broadcasted address.

Spain will also become the revolving leader of the European Union Council in July, as Sanchez stated Spanish residents need to explain which administration it prefers to “take on this responsibility in this very important geopolitical context.”

In his address, Sanchez also said that Spain is currently on a clear trail of regaining its strength from the horrors of the COVID-19 epidemic and the conflict in Ukraine and that his administration has passed the agendas it assured when chosen by now.
