Sisi underscores positive trajectory of EU-Egypt relations

(MENAFN) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has underscored the positive trajectory of relations between Egypt and the European Union, emphasizing significant progress across multiple sectors. Speaking at the inauguration of the Egypt-European Union Investment Conference, attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President Sisi highlighted the evolution of bilateral ties into a strategic and comprehensive partnership through a recent Political declaration signed in March.

President Sisi emphasized the conference's pivotal role in translating commitments into tangible actions, marking the second such gathering within a short period. He outlined six key pillars of the strategic partnership, with a strong emphasis on investment as a cornerstone.

Anticipating substantial economic benefits, Sisi projected European investments in Egypt to potentially reach €5 billion (USD5.3 billion), supported by €1.8 billion in investment guarantees for the private sector. This ambitious initiative not only underscores Egypt's attractiveness as a destination for European investment but also aims to bolster the EU's position as Egypt's foremost trade and investment partner.

The conference signifies a concerted effort to deepen economic cooperation, enhance bilateral trade flows, and foster sustainable development across various sectors. As Egypt and the EU embark on this path of enhanced partnership, the conference serves as a crucial platform to catalyze economic growth and reinforce diplomatic ties between the two regions.
