Qatar Foundation's Annual Aljam'a Amplifies Graduation Season

Qatar Foundation's annual Aljam'a brings together large number of graduates and students from across the seven partner universities.

The three-day event started yesterday to amplify the excitement and joy of graduation season. It brings together Qatar Foundation's (QF) Class of 2023 graduates together with its alumni from previous years and current students to network, interact, swap stories, and be part of a collective celebration of human potential being realised.

This year's Aljam'a is being held around four key areas a market, carnival, showcases, and workshops; the three day event will run from 3pm-8pm until May 13 at Multaqa (Education City Student Center).

Aljama was introduced last year to celebrate QF's students, graduates and the power of education.“Aljam'a is mainly to celebrates this year's graduates; but it also provides an opportunity for QF students and alumni to meet and share their experiences in a more relaxed environment,” said Abdulwahab Abdulwahab, senior newsroom specialist at QF, speaking to The Peninsula.

A key aspect of the event is the Market Zone, where alumni who are successful business owners can showcase their products and services, allowing visitors to learn more about entrepreneurial journeys.

“Aljam'a is a great initiative; it's a good way to get connected with QF's alumni and students,” said Rana Jubara, who has graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) in 2013. She showcases some of her design work, including set of playing cards inspired by Qatari designs and artwork inspired by the FIFA World Cup.

“Aljam'a is also a good platform to showcase our work and hope to it will reach to more people,” Rana said.

Nimrah Kabiruddin another QF graduate showcases wooden souvenirs inspired by the buildings in Doha and customized engraving on wood. She graduated from VCUarts Qatar in 2019 and obtained a master's degree from Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

“QF has always given me the best opportunities; Aljam'a is giving us an opportunity to meeting people and getting connected,” she said.

Aljam'a also offers include arcade games such as face painting and ring toss, as well as challenges such as an escape room bus. Torba Farmers Market and the Education City Gift Shop will also be open, enabling the community to connect.
