Doha: Penta International recently conducted a British schools Overseas inspection (BSO) of Qatar International School (QIS) and the report was“outstanding,” for the second consecutive time.
The rigorous inspection, which is fully accredited by the Department for Education of the UK Government, covered key areas such as: leadership and management, quality of the curriculum, quality of teaching and learning, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of students, welfare, health and safety, and the overall quality of the education provided.
QIS is a British International School founded in 1977 and has grown to become one of Qatar's top private schools, with over 2000 students on roll and a campus featuring a variety of specialist facilities and spaces for enhanced learning, along with an exceptional team of staff that supports each student in their journey of learning.
The inspection found that QIS offers,“an excellent British education that fully meets the needs of its students. Students are supported to become independent, creative and resourceful learners, while a love of learning is balanced with high academic outcomes and strong personal development.” The inspection noted,“the outstanding behaviour displayed by all students,” and the“highly effective staff,” in ensuring all students have a detailed understanding of where they are on their learning journey.”
“The curriculum at QIS is rich, varied and imaginative, providing students with a wide range of opportunities in linguistic, STEM, human and social, physical and creative areas of learning. Classrooms and outdoor areas are equipped with stimulating and interesting resources. The school has also implemented initiatives and UK best practices to ensure students can better transition to universities around the world.”
The spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of students was also praised.“The school fosters an inclusive and supportive environment where students from different nationalities feel welcome and accepted.” Multicultural days and assemblies are regularly organised to showcase the diversity of the student body, which represents over 70 different nationalities.
The provision for students' welfare, health and safety was also seen as excellent, where healthy diets and lifestyles are promoted throughout all year groups, this is embedded in the PSHE curriculum as well as weekly assemblies.
The results of the inspection were incredibly positive from a parent's perspective as well, with parents,“extremely satisfied with the school's education provision and the academic progress of their children.”
Importantly, they also felt,“that teaching is excellent, students behave very well and their children thoroughly enjoy attending the school,” which they also agreed offers,“good value for money.”
