Saitama: Edmilson Junior of Al Duhail SC was crowned the AFC Champions League 2022' top scorer on Saturday, finishing with a tournament-best of eight goals.

Edmilson's feat of eight goals in six games makes him the second Al Duhail player to win the prestigious award following Michael Olunga's achievement in 2021, who finished with nine.

The Belgium-born winger led the overall scoring charts in the AFC Champions League 2022 thanks to a stellar group stage that saw him rack eight goals, including a hat-trick against Pakhtakor and braces against Al Taawoun and Sepahan.

Despite not finding the back of the net again in the knockout stage before Al Duhail's 7-0 defeat to Al Hilal SFC, Edmilson' feat was enough to edge closest rivals Al Hilal striker Odion Ighalo and Daegu FC's Jose Carvalho - both on seven goals.
