GCC Chief Condemns Israeli Occupation Forces' Storming Of Al-Aqsa Mosque

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, April 5 (KUNA) -- Jassem Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed on Wednesday his strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Occupation forces.
In a statement by the GCC Secretariat, he said that the continued storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the occupation forces, violating its sanctities and attacking its worshippers, was a dangerous escalation, a violation ... An aggression against the first Qibla of Muslims, and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims in the world.
"It contradicts international principles and norms in respect of religious sanctities, as well as a flagrant violation of the international law and international legitimacy resolutions," added the statement.
Al-Budaiwi affirmed that the continuous violations and assaults on sanctities -- in conjunction with the continuous Israeli incursions into the occupied Palestinian territories -- warned of further escalation and represented a dangerous approach for which Israel bears responsibility for all its serious consequences, which undermine all efforts made to prevent the escalation of violence that threatens security and peace in the region.
Furthermore, the Secretary General called on "the international community to take urgent action to stop these systematic moves by the occupation authorities, and to support all regional and international efforts to advance the peace process in the Middle East as well as ensure that efforts are not undermined, and regional and global peace is established."
Al-Budaiwi reiterated the firm stances of the GCC states towards the Palestinian cause as the first cause of Arabs and Muslims, and its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June fourth, 1967, with East Al-Quds as its capital. (end)
