(MENAFN) The Russian Embassy in the US has criticized Washington's calls to create a "special tribunal against Russia" for its "special military operation" in Ukraine as "outright profanity that has nothing to do with justice." It accused the US of demonstrating a complete disregard for the norms of international law in favor of its own geopolitical interests and of organizing a Russophobic campaign against Russia as part of the hybrid war unleashed against it.
The embassy also accused the US of being hypocritical and cynical in its assessment of the Ukrainian conflict, stating that Washington refrains from assessing the "criminal acts of the Nazis who have settled in Kyiv and have been terrorizing civilians for many years" as well as its own role in the conflict. The embassy claimed that the US continues to support the Zelenskyy regime through the endless supply of lethal weapons, resulting in the deaths of civilians, including children, and the destruction of kindergartens, schools, and hospitals.
The Russian embassy questioned the US' right to "speculate on 'responsibility for aggression'" when the international community has yet to recover from the catastrophic consequences of American adventurist interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, bombing of Yugoslavia, and atrocities in Vietnam.
The ongoing tensions between Russia and the US over the Ukrainian conflict reflect the complex geopolitical landscape of the region.
