(MENAFN) Early on Sunday, a shooting in Tennessee resulted in the death of one person and left 10 others injured, according to a news release from the Memphis Police Department, which was posted on Twitter. The shooting took place in the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, which is located approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of downtown and near the Memphis International Airport. victims were found at two different locations in the area.
Police were first notified of the incident at the Live Lounge nightclub at 12:43 a.m. Two victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition, while five others with less severe injuries went to area hospitals in private vehicles and were released later on Sunday. While police were still at the scene of the nightclub shooting, they were informed that other victims of the shooting had been located approximately one mile away.
One male victim was pronounced dead, and three others were taken to the hospital in critical condition. According to a police spokesperson, Karen Rudolph, the victims who were found at the second location had fled the shooting scene by car.
On Sunday morning, the police updated their Twitter post to indicate that the five hospitalized victims remained in critical condition. Additionally, the police released photos of three men who they identified as persons of interest in the case. According to the police, one of the men may have been injured and in need of medical attention.
