(MENAFN- Bensirri PR) Kuwait, February 16, 2023: Mezzan Holding KSC, one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of food, beverage, FMCG, and pharmaceutical products in the Gulf, announced the successful conclusion of its participation in the 2022/2023 Kuwait Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. The annual competition, organized by the Education Committee of the CFA Society community, provides university students with mentorship and hands-on training in financial analysis and professional ethics. This year, Mezzan was selected as the subject company for the challenge based on its merit and standing in the flagship of the Boursa Kuwait markets, the ‘Premier’ Market, which selects high-liquidity companies that have medium to large market capitalization.

During the first phase of the challenge, Mezzan held an informational session that included a presentation on the company's activities and key financials by Mezzan Holding Group Chief Finance Officer, Nabil Ben Ayed, and Mezzan Holding Investor Relations Manager, Omar Fouda, followed by a Q&A session with the five participating teams from Kuwait University (KU), American University of Kuwait (AUK), Gulf University of Science and Technology (GUST), the American University of the Middle East (AUM), and Algonquin College - Kuwait (AC).

The challenge culminated in an award ceremony on February 15th at Kuwait’s Four Seasons Hotel, with opening remarks by the CFA President, Aminah Abotalaf, followed by insightful presentations by the participating student teams. Kuwait University was awarded as the first place winner of this year’s challenge and the American University of the Middle East came in second place. The winners have the opportunity to compete in the sub-regional competition, representing Kuwait.

Closing remarks were delivered by Mezzan Holding Group Chief Finance Officer Nabil Ben Ayed who said: “We are honored to have been chosen as the subject of this year's Kuwait CFA Institute Research Challenge and congratulate the winning team and all the participating universities. The winning team now has the opportunity to compete in the sub-regional competition, representing Kuwait, and showcase their skills by developing and presenting an equity research report on a sub-regional stage. This is a significant opportunity for the students to gain practical experience and build their professional network.”

On a side line of the event, the CFA Vice President, Azra Mirza said: “The CFA Institute Research Challenge is designed to promote best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and training. The Society is honoured to have the opportunity to work on causes such as professional exposure and immersive training of university students, basic financial education for the general public, sustainable finance knowledge and local expertise building, and working to bridge academia and profession.”
