Discovery of secret documents in home of another American politician

(MENAFN) If controversy enjoys company, President Joe Biden can find solace in the news that another United States official, this time former Vice President Mike Pence, had secret documents discovered at his house.

A "small number" of files with classified markings were reportedly found at the former vice president's Indiana residence, according to Greg Jacob, a lawyer for Pence, who last week informed the National Archives and Records Administration. In a letter to the agency, Jacob stated that the discovery was uncovered after an investigation by a law firm that Pence retained following last month's controversy around Biden's handling of national secrets. CNN broke the news first on Tuesday after obtaining a copy of the letter.

In the letter, Jacob claimed that the disputed documents "were inadvertently boxed and transported to the personal home of the former vice president at the end of the last administration." “Vice President Pence was unaware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents at his personal residence.”. Pence was prepared to assist with "any appropriate inquiry," he continued, and he asked advice from the National Archives on how to "prompt and secure return" the materials.
