US: It is time to approve Finland, Sweden bids to become members of NATO


(MENAFN) The Biden administration made an announcement on Thursday it is time for Turkiye to approve Finland and Sweden’s applications to become members of NATO, directly stating that holdout members of the alliance should quickly ratify their participations.

The State Department stated Secretary of State Antony Blinken had avowed resolute support for Finland and Sweden in phone discussions with their foreign ministers and declared the US has huge significance on “remaining allies quickly ratifying their accession.”

In almost same declarations regarding the two calls released just 13 minutes apart, State Department spokesman Ned Price declared Blinken had “reiterated US support for Finland and Sweden’s NATO accession.”

“He conveyed again our firm belief that Finland and Sweden are ready to join the alliance,” Price stated of the discussions with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom and Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.
“The United States urges remaining allies to quickly ratify their accession.”
