Jordan Emphasizes Importance Of Arab Tourism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Dec 13 (KUNA) -- The Jordanian Minister of tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez on Tuesday stressed the importance of boosting the trust of the Arab tourist in the Arab touristic product between the region Arab nations.
This came during a speech he gave during the opening ceremony of the 25th Arab Ministerial Tourism Council meeting held in Cairo, Egypt, after he received the Council's presidency from his Yemeni counterpart Muamar Al-Aryani.
Al-Fayez stressed the need to support inter-Arab cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as working to encourage Arab intermediate tourism and witness tis positive impact in the near future.
He stressed the importance of enhancing the quality of tourism education and its training in the Arab countries, 'especially in light of the decline in tourism in the Arab countries and worldwide' he affirmed.
He emphasized on Jordan's keenness in following-up with the State of Palestine to prepare executive programs of tourism cooperation between the two countries to support tourism in Palestine and facilitate the passage of Palestinians through the crossings, and traveling abroad.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Economic Integration Department at the Arab League, Dr. Bahgat Abu Al-Nasr stressed the importance of the tourism sector, which contributes by around 11.5 percent of the gross domestic product of the Arab countries, which is the first source of US dollars for a number of member states.
The Arab League offers great importance to enhancing Arab regional integration in all sectors, and comes at the top of them the travel and tourism sector, which 'is considered as a fundamental pillar in achieving Arab economic integration.', he added.
The Arab League worked to find proper legal frameworks governing cooperation and coordination between the Arab countries, which would reflect on the promotion of inter-Arab tourism.
The current session's agenda includes many topics that serve the Arab tourism sector, which requires a new vision that copes with modern international changes, he added.
For his part, the Yemeni Minister of Tourism Muammar Al-Aryani, stressed the need to cope with the latest developments in the field of field of tourism and the digital development it is witnessing.
Al-Eryani explained in his speech the severe losses suffered by the tourism sector in Yemen, because of the Houthis' attacks on the country's infrastructure, such as airports, hotels and museums, as well as the damage meant to the environment.
He called for exerting more efforts to promote Arab tourism and to search for solutions to the problems it faces in a practical and implementable manner in order to attract international tourism to the Arab region.
The Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism is discussing a number of issues, including the draft document for the Arab strategy for tourism and the selection of the Arab tourism capital for the year 2023.
The agenda also includes the provision of training programs for human cadres in the tourism sector in the Arab countries, and the general Arab guiding principles for unifying the procedures to registering and approving vaccines and their usage among Arab countries.
