AMMAN - The Royal Jordanian Navy (RJN) on Thursday foiled an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle a large amount of narcotics through Jordanian territorial waters.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that marine operations centre detected a person who was trying to infiltrate by swimming with a tube within the Kingdom's territorial waters, where RJN personnel rushed to the site and arrested the infiltrator in possession of narcotics, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Searching the infiltrator and his rubber tube, security personnel found 285 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 4.5 kilogrammes of marijuana, the JAF source added, noting that the infiltrator was referred to the concerned authorities.
