Pele's daughter answers to rumors that icon's health is failing

(MENAFN) Pele's daughter has disputed that her father, a three-time World Cup champion, has been placed to palliative care.

Pele, 82, was moved to end-of-life care over the weekend, according to the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, since his chemotherapy treatment was no longer effective.

Pele's physicians at Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital have not corroborated these reports, and his daughter, Flavi Nascimento, thinks the news is false.

Nascimento stated while being interviewed by Brazilian broadcasting giant Globo TV, “It’s pretty unfair people saying that he is in terminal condition, that he is under palliative care. Believe us: that’s not it.”

“He is sick, he is old, but at the moment he is being treated for a respiratory infection and when he gets better, he will be back home,” according to another of Pele’s daughters, Kely. “He is not saying goodbye in a hospital right now.”
