The GESS Dubai, which was held recently, under the theme ‘Shaping the future of education’, focused on the evolving demands and trends in education amongst students and educators in the GCC. The event holds significance as it comes at a time when the education system has drastically transformed with the advent of new and innovative practices, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic which necessitated remote learning.

Moreover, Samantha Monroe, Education Researcher, Alef Education, gave a presentation titled ‘Applications of AI in Education: Industry Experience from Alef Education’, highlighting the impact of artificial intelligence and globalization on our lives and how we interact with one another. She emphasized the necessity to transform the international education systems to prepare children today to take on jobs that will emerge in the future, and to train teachers and school leaders to be ready for future technology trends.
Hashem Shmaisani asserted that it is important to understand what kind of tasks, skills and human agencies are being enhanced by AI already within the education system. He presented a summary of AI applications in the UAE K12 public school sector by Alef Education and how these systems support the teachers’ professional development journey and improvement.
Additionally, Raafat Aljabr highlighted Alef Education proof-of-concept industry take-aways, some future roadmap additions and long-term implications of AI on human development in education. He also stated that the education system in the UAE utilizes AI applications in various fields, emphasizing the future prospects of these technologies in schools, and their role in advancing education.
