Russian Spy Sentenced To Seven Years In Ukrainian Prison


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Russian intelligence asset codename 'Pobeda', who spied on the Ukrainian army units in the northern parts of the country, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

That's according to the Security Service, Ukrinform reports.

'Based on the evidence collected by the SBU, an agent operating in the interests of Russia's military intelligence (colloquially known as the GRU) was sentenced to seven years in prison. The perpetrator had been detained in Zhytomyr region during a special raid by Ukrainian counter-intelligence in June,' the statement reads.

It was established that she had been gathering intelligence on the location and movement of the Ukrainian Army units in the designated areas.

'In the zone of 'special attention' of the Russian asset were railway routes for the transportation of military equipment and ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the territory of the region,' the SBU said.

In addition, among its main tasks was locating warehouses where artillery weapons were stored, as well as airfields where Ukrainian combat aircraft could be based.

According to the investigation, the traitor turned out to be a resident of one of the villages of Zhytomyr region. After the full-scale invasion, she was recruited by a staff operative of Russian military intelligence.

As reported by Ukrinform, the traitor, who during the temporary capture by the Russian forces of part of Kyiv region was giving out to the enemy the addresses of local territorial defense troops, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
