(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's Defense Forces have repelled enemy attacks in five settlements. In the Southern Bug direction, Russian invaders are increasingly using tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery. Russian missiles have caused damage to infrastructure across 20 settlements over the past day.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine on , an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The Russian Occupation army, having no achievements on the battlefield, uses a terror tactics against Ukrainian civilians. In violation of international humanitarian law, the laws and customs of war, they strike critical infrastructure and residential houses,” the report states.
Russian troops again launched missile and air strikes on populous peaceful Ukrainian cities. As a result of the massive missile attack, civilians have been harmed and infrastructure damaged across more than 20 settlements over the past day, namely in Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Pryluky, Nizhyn, Konotop, Kharkiv, Kremenchuk, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa. Russian invaders again killed civilians.
Over the past day, Russian occupiers have launched over 84 missile and air strikes. According to the General Staff, the enemy used cruise, ballistic, anti-aircraft guided missiles and unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) to attack Ukrainian cities and villages. Ukraine's Air Force and the anti-aircraft defense units of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 56 air targets, namely 43 cruise missiles and 13 UAVs. The threat of enemy air and missile strikes is persisting all over Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russian troops are trying to hold the temporarily occupied areas and opening fire on Ukrainian positions. The enemy is focusing efforts on attempts to disrupt the active actions of Ukraine's Defense Forces in certain directions and is conducting offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction and the Avdiivka direction.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the situation remained rather unchanged. The regime of the self-proclaimed President of Belarus continues to support Russia's armed aggression and provide a bridgehead and weapons to attack Ukraine's territory. At the same time, an offensive group has not being formed, and there was no threat of launching the offensive from the territory of Belarus as of October 10, 2022.
In other directions, Russian troops opened fire as follows:
in the Siverskyi direction – near such settlements as Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Virnopillia and Myropillia, with mortars and cannon artillery;
in the Slobozhanskyi direction – near Ivashky, Strilecha, Hurivka, Kamianka, Dvorichna and Stelmakhivka, with mortars, cannon and rocket artillery, tanks;
in the Kramatorsk direction – all over the contact line, with tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery, namely near Bilohorivka;
in the Bakhmut direction – near Siversk, Soledar, Bakhmut, Maiorsk, Kurdiumivka and New York;
in the Avdiivka direction – near Pervomaiskyi, Vuhledar, Nevelskyi and Maryinka, with tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery.
In the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia directions, Russian troops did not conduct active offensive actions. Such settlements as Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Vremivka, Dorozhnianka, Temyrivka and Chervone came under enemy fire.
In the Southern Bug direction, Russian invaders intensified shelling with tanks, mortars, cannon and rocket artillery. Over the past day, Russian troops have launched over 93 artillery strikes, which is three times as many as yesterday. Such settlements as Nikopol, Vyshchetarasivka and Novokyivka suffered from enemy strikes the most.
At the same time, Russian troops continue to suffer losses. As of October 9, 2022, the battalion tactical group of Russia's 150th motorized rifle division, which operated in the Kherson direction and consisted mainly of demobilized servicemen, lost over 520 soldiers killed.
In order to meet the needs of health facilities in the temporarily occupied areas, which are actively used by Russian invaders as hospitals, additional teams of medical workers are coming.
In the children's hospital in one of settlements in the Luhansk region, Russian occupiers placed their wounded together with sick children. Among them, there are former prisoners, representatives of the Wagner private military company. Sometimes children are not treated and discharged to free up beds.
Russian troops continue to use civilians as a living shield. In some educational institutions in the Donetsk region's Yasynuvata district, Russian forces are accommodated amid the educational process.
Over the past day, Ukraine's Defense Forces have repelled enemy attacks near Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Maiorsk, Soledar and Pervomaiske.
Ukraine's Air Force struck enemy positions five times. According to the confirmed data, the following targets were hit: three enemy ammunition and military equipment clusters, two air defense missile systems.
Ukraine's missile and artillery units also struck a Russian command post, three enemy personnel, ammunition and military equipment clusters and one S-300 air defense missile system.
