Raisi highlights securing global borders in gathering with Armenian PM


(MENAFN) Iranian leader Ebrahim Raisi highlighted the need of securing international borders when he held a gathering with Armenian prime minster Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday in New York.

Raisi informed Pashinyan that Iran highlights protecting mutual and global borders and valuing other nations' sovereignty, in addition to stopping any kind of alteration in the area's political geography.

As stated by the leader, discussions and dialogue are the only way out of present conflict among Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“As we stressed in the Shanghai summit, the region cannot tolerate a new war,” Raisi also stated.

Labelling the borders among Iran and Armenia historical, the leader mentioned that securing these vital, tactical borders is important for political and financial collaboration among both nations.

Iran has previously declared with a clear voice that it is not going to approve any alteration in its borders with Armenia. President of the Islamic Revolution made this announcement in different gathering with Russian leader Putin and Turkish leader Erdogan while taking a trip to Iran in July.

For his part, Pashinyan stated, “We will protect our entire land and territories and stand against any conspiracy aimed at separating Iran and Armenia.”
