Doha: The Qatar Satellite Company (Es'hailSat) has announced the expansion of its partnership with QNEXUS on the Es'hail 1 satellite, which covers the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at 25.5 degrees east.

'We are pleased to expand our very-small-aperture terminal (VSAT) services and to develop the relationship with QNEXUS company. 'The highly reliable data services provided by Es'hailSat company lay the foundations to provide a strong network that QNEXUS company needs to build its services to its customers,' Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari, CEO of Es'hailSat, said in a statement on Wednesday.

QNexus has successfully demonstrated that Ku-band frequencies on board Es'hail-1 can provide high-speed connectivity across Qatar and the MENA region. Providing connectivity for the oil and gas sector as well as developing portable and mobile satellite systems that can be used to provide connectivity for educational purposes in remote areas are some of the applications that QNexus is targeting with their VSAT network, the statement said.

The network will primarily cater to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman and be managed in collaboration between QNexus and Es'hailSat teams based out of Doha.

QNEXUS is a technology research company based at the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). Since its launch in 2009, the company has been developing customized communications services, real-time applications, and telecommunication solutions that are tailored to provide enhanced services in remote areas and hazardous environments.
