Qatar, Pakistan Discuss Boosting Economic, Defence Cooperation

Doha: Amir H H sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister of Pakistan H E Shehbaz Sharif held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.
At the start of the session, H H the Amir welcomed the Pakistani Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in Qatar.
The Amir stressed the importance of the brotherly and strategic relations between the two countries and their aspiration to enhance economic partnership by raising trade exchange and promoting investments through the Qatar investment Authority.
In this regard, the Qatar Investment Authority announced its aspiration to invest $3bn in the various commercial and investment sectors in Pakistan.
Sharif expressed his thanks to the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, expressing keenness to strengthen cooperation and relations between the two countries to achieve common aspirations and develop them to broader horizons and multiple fields.

During the session, they discussed relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them in the fields of defence, economy, investment, trade exchange, energy, and sports, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest, especially the efforts made by the two countries to combat terrorism.
The session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah; and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
The meeting was also attended by Chief of the Amiri Diwan H E Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani; Minister of Finance H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari; Minister of Transport H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti; and Minister of State for Energy Affairs H E Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi.
The session was attended on the Pakistani side by Chief of Army Staff H E General Qamar Javed Bajwa; Minister of Finance and Revenue H E Miftah Ismail; Minister of Economic Affairs H E Sardar Ayaz Sadiq; Minister of State for Petroleum H E Musadik Masood Malik; Minister of Railways H E Khawaja Saad Rafique; Minister of Commerce H E Syed Naveed Qamar; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Hina Rabbani Khar; and a number of members of the official delegation. H H the Amir also hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Pakistani Prime minister and the accompanying delegation. Earlier, the Pakistani Prime Minister was accorded an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan.
