Uzbekistan Denies Reports Of Missile Attack From Afghanistan

A statement from the Uzbek Ministry of Defense refuted reports of the third round of Afghan missile attacks, while the Taliban authorities claimed yesterday that they had killed the people responsible for the rocket attacks on Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Kunduz province.

The Uzbek defense ministry wrote on twitter that“In social networks, information has been circulated about the alleged third rocket attack on the territory of Uzbekistan from Afghanistan,” calling the rocket attack“absolutely untrue” and“false”.

The state-run Bakhtar News Agency, controlled by the Taliban quoted the Uzbek ministry stating“The State border between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan is fully controlled by the Uzbek military, and the situation is stable.”

However, Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, declared on Sunday that during an operation by the group's special forces, the rocket attack perpetrators—who launched 8 rockets into Uzbek territory—had been killed.

The Uzbek Ministry of Defense denied the occurrence, however, the Taliban's ministry of foreign affairs had confirmed the veracity of the rocket attacks from northern Afghanistan on Uzbek territory.

One of the prisoners held by the special forces of the Taliban was shown in a videotape that was widely circulated on social media confessing to the rocket strikes and claiming that the National Resistance Front (NRF) had supplied them with the equipment.

However, the National Resistance Front, a group that opposes the Taliban, asserts that it was the thieves—not members of ISIS—who were targeted and killed by the Taliban in a“scenario” attack.
