Cultural Village Foundation, Katara hosted the Culinary Diplomacy Forum, organised by the Global Public Diplomatic Network (GPDNet) in Katara.
Along with Qatar, Mexico, Tajikistan, Georgia, Nigeria, Hungary, the Philippines, Romania, Kenya and Bulgaria participated.

The forum was chaired by Eng. Darwish Ahmed Al Shaibani, GPDNet Secretary-General, in the presence of the ambassadors of the participating countries in the forum. The sessions focused on cultural diplomacy related to culinary art and its relationship to national identity, punctuated by the participating countries' review of culinary arts and introducing their ancient traditional cuisine by presenting it in modern and innovative ways.
They also invited the public to learn on the ways of preparing it and tasting its ingredients and its original flavour.
The forum aimed to enhance the role of culinary art in building bridges of communication and cultural exchange between peoples, emphasising the role of culinary art in consolidating the national identity of societies, as well as highlighting the role of chefs as cultural ambassadors for their countries around the world.
Eng. Al Shaibani said:“The Culinary Diplomacy Forum demonstrates the importance of table diplomacy in setting up a mechanism for promoting the cultures of countries in tourism and culture.”
He also stressed the role of culinary diplomacy in strengthening the status of countries at the economic level and cultural, civil and social influence.
He highlighted that the forum launched new programmes and projects, which are considered the first of their kind.
