Children under 12 years of age coming to Qatar will be subject to the requirements that apply to their parents with regard to COVID-19 testing and quarantine, Dr Yousef al-Maslamani, medical director of Hamad General Hospital, has said. Speaking to Qatar TV, Dr al-Maslamani also spoke about the exemption granted to citizens and residents of countries in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC), the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK) from completing the pre-entry online registration when travelling to Qatar.
As announced on Saturday, such travellers can use one of the approved Covid-19 mobile apps used in their countries and regions to be exempted from the pre-entry online registration for Qatar.
“For visitors preparing to visit Qatar, the Ministry of Public Health would like to remind citizens and residents of countries in the GCC, the EU and the UK to either download the Ehteraz mobile app when entering Qatar using an international SIM card or use one of the Covid-19 mobile apps listed below,' the Ministry of Public Health had said on Saturday, announcing the exemption.
The apps are: BeAware Bahrain (Bahrain); Tawakkalna (Saudi Arabia); Shlonik (Kuwait); Tarassud (Oman); Al Hosn (the UAE); EU Digital Covid Pass (European Union countries); and NHS Covid Pass (the UK).
“Travellers, both citizens and residents, presenting the approved apps from these countries and regions will be exempted from completing the pre-entry online registration,” the MoPH said.
In addition, fully vaccinated (i.e., those who have received a third Covid-19 shot or who had a second dose within the last nine months) and recovered (within the last 12 months) travellers are not required to present a pre-travel RT-PCR test upon arrival. However, they are still required to undergo a rapid antigen test at a private clinic in Qatar within 24 hours of arrival, the ministry explained.
A pre-travel RT-PCR test is required for unvaccinated/non-immune travellers, in addition to a five-day quarantine period.
For guidance on vaccination, home/hotel quarantine and Covid-19 test-related measures, the ministry has urged travellers to refer to the current Travel Policy at
